Erica RIEVRS BORGES joined the FRB in 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher on the BRIDGE project, and came back at the FRB in September 2025 to work on the BIOFOREST project. Within the project, she contributes to ongoing work by modelling the recovery trajectories of four complementary dimensions of biodiversity—richness, diversity, composition, and indicators of old-growth forest—in a Bayesian framework using a global dataset of logged forests.
Throughout her career, Erica has worked on the ecology of tropical forests, particularly focusing on forest recovery after human disturbances. She is also especially interested in the influence of biodiversity on ecosystem services, as mediated by LiDAR-derived metrics of forest structural complexity.
